After working so hard to buy and maintain the home you love, it is pure emotional turmoil to have to give it up to foreclosure. Yet there is help to stop foreclosure available to almost everyone, if you just know where to go to find it. There are legitimate sources of help that help people for free, so don’t fall for the scams that demand large fees up front.

Keep looking for the right help to stop foreclosure because you do have rights in this process. That said, it will not be possible for these agencies offering help to stop foreclosure to save every home that is in danger, but a lot of them can if you find the help soon enough. It is relatively easy to find these services, and there are even government grant based programs starting up in many states as well. Your lender will also send you a list of companies or organizations that may be able to help stop foreclosure for you, usually included with your breech of contract letter.

If That Does Not Work

If you cannot find any service willing to help stop foreclosure on your home, or if they all say you are too far into the process to do anything, then the only way to save your home may be to pay the back payments and get back on track on your own. You can stop the foreclosure process on your own at any point if you have the money to pay all of the back payments as well as any attorney or other fees that have been added on since you defaulted on the loan. Some ways to get the money to help stop foreclosure are to borrow from someone close to you, take out another loan, or even take a second job or find other sources of income, at least long enough to get caught up.

If help to stop foreclosure either through others or your own means just isn’t happening, then remember that this is happening for a reason and there may be better things in your future, especially if this mortgage is more than you can afford at this time anyway. It is difficult to give up a home you love, but in the long run it may be worth it to get rid of the monthly struggle to make payments you can’t afford. Hold your head high and know there will be a home that is better suited to your family and your budget and it will come your way in good time.
